Arena opens its first animation academy

NEW DELHI: Arena Multimedia, a division of Aptech Ltd. has launched its first

Arena Animation Academy (AAA), a special training center for providing training

for digital entertainment in New Delhi.

The academy will offer students a thorough practical oriented curriculum

delving upon the latest 2D and 3D animation techniques. Students will also learn

to create organic and inorganic 3D models.

The academy will offer courses in high- end animation with specialization in

Maya software for 3D animation, Animo and US Animation softwares for 2D

animation, classical and cell animation, audio-video editing and special effects.





Sudhir Mathur, Head, Arena Multimedia said, "Mission of Arena Animation
academy is to create a pool of high caliber multimedia professionals who will

have confidence to meet the needs of any global organization".

The company is planning to have 50 such academies spread across all major

metros of India by end 2002. Presently the company has such academies in Mumbai,

Kolkata and Hyderabad.

Today the animation and multimedia industry has a CAGR of over 60 per cent.

Projections show that India will receive more than $ two billion worth animation

business in the next three years and the Indian Animation and designing industry

will reach a turnover of approximately $15 billion by 2008.

Currently the entertainment industry uses nearly 70 per cent of the animation

that is made and this is continuously increasing. The Indian entertainment

industry was valued at Rs 15,400 crore in 1999 and is estimated to reach Rs

70,000 crore by 2005. The global entertainment industry is worth $45 billion,

whereas the Indian animation industry is pegged around $500 million and is

expected to grow at 30 per cent per annum. The global animation industry is

worth $30 billion.
