Reducing the frequency and duration of power outage is one of the key targets for service improvement of the Distribution Companies. Using Arctic Control, power is restored immediately by remotely monitoring and controlling the field devices in the Electrical Network, as the company claims.

Jyrki Penttonen, CEO of Viola Systems explains that the strategy for the Distribution Companies in the Smart Networks is to divide them in small zones. In the event of a power fault, the effected zone is isolated from the other areas. Arctic Control provides the vital communication link between the centralized control room and monitoring and operating the Medium Voltage field devices.

Penttonen adds that a secure and reliable communication is vital in successful implementation of a Smart Grid especially when it is concerning the Medium Voltage. Arctic Control has been specifically designed to meet the high availability and security needs of a Distribution Company. Retrofitting with the existing assets, connection with multiple switchgear and disconnectors are some of the key features of Arctic Control.

Arctic Control has been tested in the extreme field conditions and is deployed by some of the leading utilities in the Nordic area.
