Aptech targets 50 p.c revenue from abroad

MUMBAI, INDIA: Aptech Limited, the global learning solutions major with its 700 training centers spread across India and some 150 training centers abroad wants to raise its global revenues.

According to Aptech’s CEO and managing director Ninand Karpe, the company plans to add about 150 new training centers including some 110-120 centers in India and remaining centers abroad by 2010.

“With our multi-product and multi geography strategy, we have diversified our business into four brands - Aptech Computer Education, Arena Animation, Avalon Academy and N-Power,” Karpe said.

“In China, through a joint venture with Beijing Jadebird IT Education Company Ltd (BJBC), we have about 270 training centers and also have centers in Vietnam, Nigeria and Brazil under the franchisee model. And we expect 50 per cent of our revenues come from overseas market in next three years,” Karpe told reporters in Mumbai on Monday.

Excluding the business in China, Aptech earns some 22 per cent revenues from global markets and operations. The consolidated revenues for Aptech stood at Rs 278.80 cr for the calendar year 2008.

In terms of revenue generations, IT training and education along with the graphics and multimedia education are on the top grosser for Aptech. The company has presence in some 35 emerging countries, in the education and training field.

Further, he added that there is a scope of expansion via acquisitions that fits well in the company’s multi-product and multi-geography strategy.

“We are looking at verticals which are career oriented with global reach. We have 22 years' experience and expertise in education and training field, and will continue to focus in the area of careers and education,” he explained.

Also, Aptech had acquired an English language training firm during September this year, which had two centers in Bangalore, and branded it as English Express.

“English Express has huge potential in India as well as abroad. It provides spoken English and communications skills to non-English speaking professionals in the areas of IT and ITeS. We also want to expand it in other countries,” Karpe said.
