NEW DELHI: Aptech Computer Education, the flagship training division of
Aptech Limited has introduced Vidya, a special course that gives each Indian the
opportunity to become computer literate at an affordable price of Rs 999. The
course is being offered all over the country in English, Hindi, Gujarati,
Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Tamil and Telegu.
Kishansinh Gohil, senior vice president and head, Aptech Computer Education,
said, "Aptech has fully supported the nation's endeavor to promote computer
literacy and we believe access to computer education should be available to
every citizen of India. Vidya is our contribution to this effort. It consists of
specially designed modules that will give each participant the core skills to
productively use computers for business, office functions, education and
communication."
He further added, "Last year saw nearly 30,000 enrolments from
government employees from different states namely Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu,
Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan. By the end of 2002, Aptech
plans to bring 500,000 students, from across the country, under the National
Literacy Drive program by continuing its initiatives with government offices,
banks and other public institutions."
Aptech accomplished a significant milestone by attaining 300,000 students
mark in a span of three years. With the launch of Vidya, Aptech hopes to provide
training to working executives, government employees, self-employed
professional, traders, housewives, farmers and students to create a massive base
of competent computer users in all walks of life at the village, taluka,
district and city level.
