BANGALORE, INDIA:  Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) is a scholarship program funded by the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India and is administered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).

This scholarship program aims at encouraging students to take up research careers in the areas of basic sciences, engineering and medicine.

Online application for KVPY closes September 7 12:00 midnight according to the official website. 

They also mention that the system where the online form is filled must be attached to a printer as it is mandatory to take a print-out of the online application form. 

According to the website, there are three streams wherein students can apply:

1. Stream SA is for students enrolled in standard 11 and have got an 80 per cent (70 per cent for SC/ST) aggregate in the streams of mathematics and science in standard 10 board examinations

2. Stream SX is for students enrolled in standard 12 and wish to pursue undergraduate program in basic sciences provided they have got an 80 per cent (70 per cent for SC/ST) aggregate in the streams of mathematics and science in standard 10 board examinations

3. Stream SB is for students enrolled in first year of B. Sc./B.S./Int. M.Sc./M.S. and have secured a minimum of 60 per cent (50 per cent for SC/ST) marks in aggregate in science subjects in the standard 12 Board Examination.

The official website mentions that the candidates must have enrolled to the above mentioned courses during the academic years of 2012 to 2013.
