Apple in its last year's official statement had stated that the facility will provide Apple with an East Coast infrastructure hub to support its iTune music store and iPhone app store.

However, the facility is  about twice what companies like Microsoft and Google invest in the data centres they use for cloud computing and about five times the size of Apple’s other regional data centres, adds the blog.

So what exactly could it be for? Well, seems like we'll have to wait until it goes on air, or until Apple decides to divulge more details about this facility.
