Apple is working on a foldable iPhone which it plans to launch in 2020, according to a CNBC report.  According to the analysts from Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the smartphone maker is working with its Asian partners on a foldable device which will be able to open up and be used like an iPad tablet.

Wamsi Mohan, the analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch said, "We expect the iPhones this fall to be largely unchanged for the OLED versions although size changes have proved to be a catalyst in the past. Our checks also suggest that Apple is working with suppliers on a foldable phone (that potentially could double up as a tablet) for launch in 2020."

This is not the first time that rumors surrounding Apple's foldable smartphone are surfacing. Previously, reports suggested that Apple was working with LG Display to build a foldable iPhone. Apple had also filed a patent last year in which the company proposed to make an iPhone which can open and close like a book.

Apple is not the only one working on foldable smartphones. Lenovo and Samsung have already demoed phones with foldable screens.
