HYDERABAD: Apere Inc USA, an IT security products and solutions company, today opened its India product life cycle center here. It is also gearing up to launch its product in November 2005.

The company has decided to invest $25 million in its Hyderabad center in the next two years and scale up the headcount to 50 by end 2005.

Ram Jayam, chairman, CEO, Apere Inc, said, “The Hyderabad center will conceptualize, build and eventually launch the product. Besides, it will also focus on market analysis, product positioning, and R&D.”

Citing the addressable IT security market to be around $52 billion by 2008, as predicted by research firm Gartner, Ram said, “Our product ensures network connectivity, identity integration, and various layers of connectivity. We have tied up with OEMs in the US and will be launching this in November 2005. We got some pilot installations, and the feedback from customers is good.”

Recalling the market size, Ram said that in the last six months nearly 4.7 million identities were stolen and the attacks cost close to $200 billion business in 2004. According to FBI, USA, 50 to 80 percent of the security breaches originate inside the firewalls, where security is the weakest.

“Our product, usually in the form of a box, is invisible in the network and ensures device level security too. Users cannot reach the box and only the IT manager will have access to it thereby ensuring high security levels,” informed Ram.
