One can count the number of Linux viruses on fingertips. And, most versions of Linux today come patched for these viruses. Then why do we need a Linux-based content security solution? According to Kurian, there are not many viruses that can affect the Linux platform, but can still transmit them over a heterogeneous network where there are Windows-based clients. "And with Linux gaining popularity at the gateway level, the need for content security solution with Linux support is growing," said Kurian.
