The telco head said that merely within 170 days of its launch, his company was able to onboard 100 million customers, a feat matched by none in the technology industry. For 170 days, Jio has added on average nearly seven customers on its network every single second of every single day.

On the back of free voice and data services, Reliance Jio witnessed unprecedented growth for any company in the history of the telecom industry. Giving the incumbents a run for their money, the industry has since witnessed a tariff war between Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.

While these companies have challenged Jio's free services extended until at least the end of March, Ambani’s team has blamed them for not providing enough inter-connect points, thus leading to massive call failures on its network.

Interestingly, a new consolidation wave is also underway post Jio’s entry that may soon see a merger of Vodafone and Idea network.

The company has also launched a new Prime offer to provide voice and data services to its existing and new users at Rs 10 per day.
