Anil appointed chairman of Reliance Infocomm

Reliance Energy Ltd CMD and Reliance Capital Ltd chairman Anil D Ambani was appointed chairman of Reliance Infocomm Ltd (RIC), an Indian private sector information and communications company, on June 26, 2005.

According to the press release, Chartered Accountant Gautam Doshi and professor at IIM, Bangalore Prof. J Ramachandran were also appointed Directors on the RIC Board.

Ambani enjoyed an informal inter-action with thousands of Infocomm personnel present on the occasion, and also toured the company's extensive infrastructure facilities. Soon thereafter, he addressed the RIC family, through a nationwide web cast across 85 offices and locations of the company.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambani said, “It is a privilege to assume the leadership of this great enterprise. We are committed to creating value and leading a billion Indians into the digital era.”
