Android app: Skype patches vulnerability

BANGALORE, INDIA: Skype has announced a new version of the Skype for Android application onto the Android Market.

The new version contains a fix to the vulnerability reported last week which exposed personal details of Skype users on Android platform.

Skype has asked all Android users to update to this version as soon as possible in order to help protect personal information.

The IP based caller company said it had had no reported examples of any 3rd party malicious application mis-using information from the Skype directory on Android devices and it will continue to monitor closely.

Skype said it will continue to take the users privacy and security very seriously.
