In an attempt to offer real-time insight into the performance and availability of cloud-based applications, Compuware introduced its cloud performance analyser, CloudSleuth.

The company says that CloudSleuth is a 'partner-driven' free cloud community built to analyse performance of the cloud's 'federated infrastructure'. It also gives partners the opportunity to provide third-party verification of the reliability of services.

"Cloud computing is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for collaboration and application management. CloudSleuth will help bring together industry experts, early cloud adopters and newcomers to cloud computing to foster better understanding of deploying and managing applications on the cloud," he added.

In addition to blogs, forums and resources provided by CloudSleuth partners, the site features a number of applications to help enterprises build and manage cloud applications.

The analyser leverages Gomez network, including both backbone nodes and last mile peer collection points around the world to bring out data.

Though it needs to be seen how many of the Indian online providers will be open to such an idea, wherein their performance is rated and weighed on par with others and thrown open to public, the company seems to be very confident and sees many adopters for its products during the next six months.

Vivek Kumar Sharma, MD, Compuware India, "We do see a kind of nervousness among online service providers in testing their performance publicly on the network. However, CloudSleuth will help them analyze the impact of applications on the cloud with real-time data, which will enable to make better business decisions. So, once they see how they fare among others, we expect them to approach us to give them a solution."

The company has already benchmarked a few Indian online service providers from banking, retail and traveling sectors and is expecting to do the same to others in the coming days.

A peek into Gomez's Benchmark

Indian Railways is No 1 in in terms of response time; however, it finds itself way below at 21st position in terms of consistency and 25th in terms of availability.

In a different report, State Bank of India is staggering at position 7 in terms of response time, 21 in terms of availability and 13 in terms of consistency.

Seems like, the government needs to have a look into its online services, which are more or less lagging behind its contemporaries in all aspects. (Aside) Maybe Compuware will soon get to hear from IRCTC or SBI!
