AUSTIN: Integrated circuit maker Silicon Laboratories Inc. on Tuesday said Analog Devices Inc. has withdrawn its patent infringement lawsuit against the company.

The Analog lawsuit, which was withdrawn before Silicon Labs could file a response, was originally filed in the US District Court for the District of Massachusetts on May 22. Initially Silicon Labs, which went public on March 24, filed its own lawsuit against Analog Devices and 3Com Corp. alleging that Analog was infringing on the company''s US patent for direct access arrangement (DAA) technology, which is used to produce modems for personal computers.

Austin, Texas-based Silicon Labs said Analog withdrew its counter-suit following a communication from Silicon Labs explaining that the asserted patent claim was invalid and that there was no infringement on the part of Silicon Labs. Shares of Silicon Labs, which topped out at 105-3/4 just after its IPO, fell 4-1/4 to close at 52 on the Nasdaq stock market.
