The establishment of the chair and a professor position at IIT will provide

the faculty and students at IIT-Madras with assistance in all phases and with

all matters concerning the integration of digital signal processing into course

curricula and into research.

" The establishment of the Chair at IIT-Madras was done to facilitate

the inclusion of leading edge semiconductor technology into product development,

engineering research and course curricula. IIT-Madras has been a very successful

training ground for some of the most proficient DSP engineers. The institute has

been instrumental in developing economical telecom solutions for India’s

growing needs by nurturing skilled manpower base in the area of DSP," said

Analog Devices Inc. chairman of the board Ray Stata.

With the increasing demand for Digital Signal Processing knowledge by

employers, IIT Madras will graduate 'DSP-literate' engineers. Given its

expertise in Digital Signal Processing, companies like Analog Devices are

uniquely positioned to improve the quality of engineering education and DSP

classes and labs at the university. The Chair by Analog Devices is just one of

its continuous educational initiatives.
