TAIPEI, TAIWAN: GaAs microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMIC), which are used in wireless handsets and data devices, will soon see their design and production on a common platform shared by Anadigics and Win Semiconductors.

The two companies have entered into a strategic tie up aimed at design and manufacture of GaAS MMICs. The companies have inked a deal towards this initiative.

As part of the strategic agreement, Win Semiconductors will be providing Anadigics with GaAs foundry processing services. This is expected to complement the output at Anadigics' 6-inch GaAs manufacturing facility in New Jersey.

The strategic tie-up between the New Jersey and Taiwan-based firms will see a shake up in the scene, feel observers.

It has been pointed out by market watchers that the foundry relationship is in fact a key component of Anadigics' new hybrid manufacturing strategy. The company has endorsed this view.

A report in DigiTimes has quoted Russ Wagner, VP of operations at Anadigics as saying that the agreement and implementation of Anadigics hybrid manufacturing strategy will ensure that it has the capacity to ramp up to meet growing product demand. “The tie up will also ensure that the New Jersey firm meets its own quality, delivery and customer satisfaction standards,” he added.
