NEW DELHI: Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) hopes to double its market share this
year in India, thanks to the positive response from partners of the new AMD
reseller program. The company, which aims to achieve 100 per cent growth, has
launched fresh advertising and marketing initiatives.
The AMD reseller program is mainly targeted at second-tier resellers.
Launched in November, this program will go on till the end of the year with
incentives changing every quarter. Basically a Web-enhanced program, resellers
need to log on to the AMD Web site and register. The program works on a
point-based scheme–over 4,000 points make an ordinary reseller an associate
partner, while over 12,000 points will make the reseller eligible to become a
premier partner. Through this program, the company hopes to achieve 50 per cent
boost in its sales.
The AMD reseller program is being planned for a long term though the reward
structure and targets would change with time. At present, more than 500
resellers have already registered for the program, which is currently running in
Indonesia, Singapore and Malaysia.
For a long time considered as a second fiddle to Intel, AMD has considerably
enhanced its market situation. "Our push and pull ratio has come to 70:30
from 100:0 one year back, which I think is a significant improvement," said
AMD authorized representative (India), Ajay Kapure.
