AMD launches Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor

NEW DELHI: AMD today announced the immediate availability of the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor in India aimed at gaming enthusiasts.

The company claimed that the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor shows an average 34 percent improvement on overall digital media performance and an 80 percent faster performance on certain benchmarks over similar single-core processors.

Incorporating AMD's most advanced processor technology, the AMD Athlon 64 FX processor line features the first Windows-compatible 64-bit PC processor designed specifically for PC enthusiasts.

FX60 features 2.6GHz dual core processor, HyperTransport, enhanced virus protection, AMD 64 architecture and Socket 939. Speaking at the launch, AMD chief sales and marketing officer executive VP Richard Henri said, “As more and more games and applications support multi-core environments, PC enthusiasts can experience the true advantages delivered by the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual core processor.”

The AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 processor is priced at $1,031 in 1,000-unit PIB quantities. It supports both Microsoft Windows XP Home and Pro edition (Service Pack2) and all current versions of Linux. Systems based on the AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 dual-core processor are expected to be available from Ingram Micro and AVNET in India.
