The summit will provide software developers with an opportunity to learn more about Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) technology and programming methodologies using application programming interfaces (APIs) such as OpenCL, OpenGL and Microsoft DirectCompute, among others.

According to the release, during the AMD Fusion Developer Summit, participants will engage in interactive sessions and hands-on labs to learn more about APU features and deepen their knowledge of advanced parallel processing programmability.

The company also intends to bring to market its next-generation server processors, codenamed “Bulldozer”, during 2011. Offering up to 16 cores per processor, Bulldozer will offer developers a computational platform for exploiting the world of large scale-out clusters, including the web-based transactional environments of cloud computing clusters and computationally demanding high-performance clusters.

The inaugural AMD Fusion Developer Summit (AFDS) will be held June 13-16, 2011 in Bellevue, Washington and presentation proposals must be submitted by February 4, 2011, added the press release.
