AMD to increase market initiatives in India

NEW DELHI: AMD, the global supplier of integrated circuits for the personal
and networked computer and communications markets, has unveiled its channel
strategy in India. Referring to an IDC report, which quotes India was one of the
largest important market in the Asia Pacific region, area channel sales manager
(Asia Pacific) K S Chong said India held a market potential for PC sale was
expected to reach 2.3 million in 2001.

For the channel partners, AMD has launched three initiatives: The first one
is AMD Reseller program, which focuses on strengthening channels. The initiative
launched in November 2000 is expected to have 1,000 registered resellers from 75
cities as its members by the end of March 2001.

The AMD reseller program includes Sales incentive scheme, Technical
Certification program, Online sales tool, contests and feedback.

The second initiative includes setting up of AMD Athlon centers for latest
product demonstration from qualified professionals. At present there are seven
Athlon centers in the country and the target is to increase it to 25 by the end
of this year. These centers will provide latest details about the products.

The third initiative is the AMD and friends program, which is a
customer-loyalty program with the objective to increase the value, which the
end-user gets from buying an AMD processor. The customer will get support in
terms of technical tips, participation in online games and quiz contests for
which there will be handsome prizes, availing of the e-pal newsletter as well
being informed about online bargains.
