In an attempt to create a new automotive community, Amazon has launched a special platform for car enthusiasts - Amazon Vehicles, a car research, and comparison tool.
You can search for cars using a variety of parameters, including body type, year, MPG, and features. You can also write a review and each car has a Q&A section, which could prove useful if you’re curious about something specific, especially with older cars.
Once you reach the filtered page, you can compare trims, engine types, and other features. You can also add information about cars you own to the Amazon Garage.
In a press statement, Amazon's automotive head Adam Goetsch said, "The Company wants to support customers during one of the most important, research-intensive purchases in their lives." He further added, "The information on the site will be enhanced by the ability to tap into the knowledge, opinions, and experiences of other car owners within the Amazon customer community."
For now, the retailer isn't selling any car itself, but will be recommending pricing from manufacturers. However, earlier this week, Amazon partnered with Hyundai to let potential customers order up test drives right from the website itself. Who knows we might see Amazon getting into actual car sales very soon.
