Amazon.com on Wednesday announced that it has filed a law suit against the Discovery Communications, which owns Discovery channel and Animal Planet, over infringement of patents.

According to the media reports, the lawsuit filed with the U.S. District Court in Western Washington on Friday alleges for violating four patents covering product searches and recommendation technology on Discovery's shopping website.

It was a couple of months back that Discovery had sued Amazon alleging the usage of its patented technology in the popular Kindle and Kindle2 readers.

In context with this, Amazon in a separate filing has accused Discovery for misleading the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
