Amazon speeds-up data transfer for Amazon S3

SEATTLE, USA: Amazon Web Services LLC, an Amazon.com company, announced the general availability of AWS Import/Export for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3).

AWS Import/Export comes with a new web service interface that enables easy management of data transfers and migrations and accelerates moving large amounts of data into and out of AWS using portable storage devices for transport.

"Companies have used AWS Import/Export for everything from time-sensitive imports at the end of a datacenter lease, to exporting large data sets to their customers, to disaster recovery," said Alyssa Henry, GM, Amazon S3. "We're excited to make the service generally available and even easier to use."

Amazon Web Services today also announced support for Amazon S3 in the AWS Management Console.

The AWS Management Console provides convenient management of your compute, storage, and other AWS cloud resources through a simple point-and-click, web-based interface.
