Amazon India hires ex-COO of Voot to lead Prime Video

Gaurav Gandhi, ex-COO of Voot joins Amazon Prime Video India

E-commerce giant Amazon has appointed the former head of Voot Gaurav Gandhi as the director and country manager- India for Prime Video, as reported by Economic Times. Gandhi will take over the position which was left vacant since the exit of Nitesh Kripalani last year.

Gandhi joined Viacom18 in March 2010 as the chief commercial officer and head of international business. Later, he was named COO of IndiaCast, the distribution joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18. In August 2015, he was appointed as COO of Viacom18 Digital Venture, which launched the company’s on-demand over-the-top (OTT) service Voot.

Prior to joining Viacom18, Gandhi has served as executive vice-president, business operations and content sales at NDTV Imagine Ltd and vice-president-commercial and business planning at Star TV, besides business roles at Turner India and Madison Communications.

Viacom18 confirmed that Gandhi has decided to quit the company after serving for 8 long years. Viacom18 CEO, Sudhanshu Vats, said, "Gaurav has contributed significantly to Viacom18’s growth journey. He has led an extremely capable team to make VOOT a brand that is loved by its consumers. Gaurav has been a passionate and driven colleague whose counsel I have always valued.
