Amazon expands storage capacity for small retailers

BANGALORE, INDIA: As part of its ongoing commitment to continually enhance services to customers and sellers on India's largest online store www.amazon.in, Amazon Seller Services India Pvt Ltd today announced its plans to open five more Fulfillment Centers (FCs) in Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Tauru (outskirts of Gurgaon).

With the additional storage capacity and its two existing Fulfillment Centers on the outskirts of Mumbai and Bangalore, Amazon has almost doubled its total storage capacity to over half million square feet, offering world-class fulfillment services to thousands of retailers and small and medium businesses (SMBs) across the country.

This investment is part of Amazon's continued focus on enhancing online shopping experience for consumers in India and enabling SMBs to get a scalable and robust national platform using Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA).

The new facility will provide existing and new retailers from both South and North India closer access to Amazon's world-class fulfillment capabilities. Seller of all sizes will be able to take advantage of this new, modern, multilevel, secure facilities equipped with Amazon's world-class and state-of-the-art warehousing systems and processes to stock and store millions of products of all sizes across several categories using Fulfillment by Amazon for immediate shipment to customers.

Customers in these states and nearby areas can expect broader selection across categories available for immediate shipment and eligible for Amazon's Next-Day and Same-Day Guaranteed delivery services.

The Fulfillment Center in Chennai is already operational and the remaining four FCs will be operational next month.
