Because not everyone likes to 'read' books, some actually prefer listening, Amazon is adding 'Audible' support for its cheapest Kindle. Based on its listing (as found by The Digital Reader), Amazon's basic Kindle e-readers will be getting support for Audible “in the coming months.”

This will put the device on a par with the brand new Kindle Oasis, enabling you to listen to audio books straight from the e-readers themselves, and even switch between the text and audio versions of titles if you own both.

But, since the e-reader doesn’t have speakers onboard, it’s going to be a similar implementation of the feature like Oasis. Users will have to pair the device with their own via bluetooth or headphones. The listing page also notes that the feature will be available as an over-the-air-update at some point in the near future.

Amazon hasn’t confirmed precisely when this feature is going to arrive. The updated product page only mentions that the feature will be rolled out in the near future. Also, there is no word if the feature will be extended to Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage as well.
