Altaf Halde joins Kaspersky South Asia

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Altaf Halde, who was formerly serving as a country director for Sophos (India, SriLanka and Bangladesh), one of the well-known companies in anti-virus products and solutions, has joined Kaspersky South Asia as its head.

Based out of Hyderabad, Halde replaced Suk Ling Gun, who was elevated in June 2010, and was previously leading Kaspersky's South East Asia operations.

Halde has already taken over the new job and responsibilities on April 1, and is reporting to Harry Cheung, managing director of Kaspersky Lab APAC. He has done an MBA from the Newport University, California, US.

Despite of repeated efforts, Halde could not be contacted for his comments.

A source in the channel community said that the new appointment will usher in a new age for Kaspersky India.

Kaspersky Lab is currently the fifth largest vendor of Enterprise Endpoint Protection, and according to the Gartner research, the company's share of the global consumer IT security market reached 9 per cent in 2010, which is a 2 per cent increase over the previous year.
