Being a triple-core processor, it provides more multithreaded-performance as compared to dual-core processors available.

PCMark05 gave our processor a CPU score of 7622 which is quite good. A score of 11879 on 3D Mark benchmark speaks volumes for the processor's ability to render graphics. We also ran the CineBench R10 benchmark on the setup.

The benchmark billed the processor at 7576 CB-CPU which is decent as compared to the AMD Phenom II X3 720 processor, ,reviewed in March 2009 issue of PCQuest, considering that this is a 3-core processor.

AMD Phenom X4 has also been reviewed in this issue. This processor is a bit different in its class as a three-core processor is not something you see everyday. Its comparison with dual-core or quad-core processors is not fair and so far it does not have much competition. These results do indicate a strong performance bar set by the AMD processor.

Also, it is interesting to note that it offers decent performance for a triple cored processor in the sub 5K category

Bottomline: Three cores of the X3 455 perform better than other dual core processors available at almost the same price. Not comparable to quad-cores though.
