Amazon Echo adds music alarms to Alexa

Amazon has announced that its Alexa enabled devices will now wake you up with music instead of the boring alarms. So now you can ask Alexa to set an alarm for you either with a specific song, or playlists, artists or genres.

The new feature supports a number of services including Amazon Music, Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, SiriusXM, and iHeartRadio. Amazon Music customers can also preset alarms with music based on their mood, activity, or remembered song lyrics by saying “Alexa, wake me up to relaxing music at 7 am” or “Alexa, set an alarm at 7 a.m. to the song that goes ‘I’ve paid my dues time after time."

However, the lyrics feature and the songs request by mood or any specific activity only works for Amazon Music. The alarm feature doesn’t have to be configured every night. If you wake up at the same time, you can ask Alexa to wake you up "every day" at a certain time.

The new feature is now available in Amazon Echo and any Alexa enabled device except the Amazon Fire TV which doesn't support alarms because TVs are powered off at night. Also, Amazon will be using the feature in Echo Spot releasing soon, which Amazon bills as a smart alarm clock.
