Alcatel sells IT services unit Ansaware to EDS

PARIS: French telecoms equipment maker Alcatel has sold its information
technology (IT) services unit Ansaware SA to US IT services group EDS, Alcatel
and EDS said on Friday.

EDS will then become a preferred IT services provider to Alcatel, they said
in a joint statement.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal should be closed in early
2002, Alcatel said, adding the step was in line with Alcatel's strategy of
repositioning itself on the telecoms market.
