The Innovations Design and Engineering Awards have been recognizing achievements in product design and engineering since 1976, said a press release.

Alcatel-Lucent’s winning ecosystem of residential gateway, application module and activation/auto configuration/management products enables seamless integration between home devices and guarantees an easier, flexible and more cost-effective roll-out of connected home services such as home media sharing, smart metering and home automations, the release added.

Dave Geary, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s Wireline activities said this single-box approach reduces the home network’s complexity in terms of deployment, installation and maintenance.

“As such, support costs are contained and greater customer satisfaction and loyalty is achieved. By combining our innovative products and industry-leading applications, this ecosystem will become the service providers’ key to delivering the future of connected home services,” Geary added.

Alcatel-Lucent’s ecosystem enables award-winning applications such as 4Home Monitoring, 4Home Control and 4Home Energy-enabling consumers to monitor and control IP cameras; control lights, appliances, HVAC systems, thermostats and motion detectors; access contacts and door locks; and monitor and analyze energy consumption readings from a Smart Meter and individual energy modules to reduce their energy bills and help the environment, the release added.
