NEW DELHI,INDIA: Alcatel-Lucent, on Wednesday announced that the company has reaffirmed their position in broadband access market with 7.7 million DSL lines shipped in 2Q’08, stated the Dell’Oro 2Q’08 access report.
With a cumulative market share in DSL port shipments of 39 per cent, more than three times that of its nearest competitor, and a worldwide installed base of 173 million DSL lines, Alcatel-Lucent continues to lead the fixed broadband access market, said a press release.
According to the report, it leads the IP digital subscriber line access multiplexer (IP DSLAM) market with a 2Q’08 market share of 32 per cent.
It has also proved its leadership in very high-speed DSL (VDSL) shipments, by surpassing a 38 per cent market share in terms of ports shipped in 2Q'08 -again more than threefold the number of shipments of than its competitor.
“Alcatel-Lucent is seen by customers as their partner for broadband access transformation, mastering a complete view on the options and on the implementation challenges, and increasingly being appreciated for its integration capabilities,” said Luis Martinez Amago, president of Alcatel-Lucent’s fixed access activities.
“With one out of three fixed broadband customers around the world served through an access network provided by Alcatel-Lucent, we are committed to support our customers’ network transformation projects,” he added.
The report mentioned about the company’s leadership in North America, Europe, Middle East, Africa, while retaining its number-2 position in Asia Pacific.
