Gartner vice president and analyst Mark Fabbi and research director Joe Skorupa evaluated application delivery vendors based on their ability to execute and the completeness of their vision.

According to 2005 criteria, Gartner focused on various areas within the

parameters of vision and execution including market understanding, sales

strategy, innovation, business model, market responsiveness and track

record, and customer experience, to name a few.

According to Gartner, vendors positioned in the "Visionaries" quadrant have a clear vision of market direction and are focused on preparing for that, but they can still improve in terms of optimizing service delivery.

"We are very pleased that Akamai has been positioned in the 'visionary' quadrant in Gartner's Magic Quadrant for Application Delivery Products,

2005," said Tom Leighton, co-founder and chief scientist of Akamai.
