"Yes, Kasab has been hanged this (Wednesday) morning at 7.30 a.m. in Yerawada Central Jail," Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, who led the 26/11 terror attacks case, told IANS. Kasab's end came just five days before the fourth anniversary of the brutal terror attacks. The November 26-29, 2008 terror siege had claimed 166 lives

''"All the legal procedures in the 26/11 terror attacks case were completed. He was sentenced by the trial court, which was upheld by the Bombay High Court, Supreme Court, and his mercy plea was rejected by the president. Accordingly, Kasab has been hanged this morning at 7.30 a.m. in Yerawada Central Jail," said Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil.

Thousands of netizens have taken to social media to express their joy over the matter. ''US kept Osama's execution secret .. India kept #kasab's execution secret. Both the operations well planned and kept low profile,'' says a tweet. ''Finally a justice has been served ! Soul of our 180 people must be in peace now ! #KASAB has been Hanged ! chapter of him is closed!,'' says a tweet from Tired Indian.

Howver, few other Twitteratis are of the view that Afzal Guru should be hanged soon as well. ''Its time to Hang Afzal Guru also ... how long we will feed this terrorists ...wake up,'' says one tweet, who echoes the views of several others. ''Well done President Pranab Mukherjee. Please don't dither on Afzal Guru. Just do it,'' says another. What do you have to say about this? Do you applaud the Indian Government for keeping this low-profile? Do let us know.
