AirWatch integrates with new Kindle devices for mobility support

ATLANTA, USA: AirWatch, the largest Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) provider, announces that its EMM solutions are integrated into the new Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX. With Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX, Amazon is releasing new device and application management capabilities that organizations can leverage using AirWatch.

Kindle Fire provides a unique end user experience with enhanced security and management capabilities as part of Fire OS 3.0 "Mojito". In addition to integration with leading MDM solutions like AirWatch, the new Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX tablets will also include enterprise-ready features such as encryption, secure Wi-Fi, a native VPN client and Kerberos support for Intranet access.

According to Raghu Murthi, vice president of enterprise and education, Amazon: "We've heard from our customers that they love being able to bring their Kindle Fire to work and we're excited to make it even easier with Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX. The integration with MDM solutions like AirWatch on our Kindle Fire devices gives businesses and educational institutions the tools they need to securely manage their Fire devices while providing customers with the applications and content to do their jobs even better."

AirWatch previously supported organizations using Kindle Fire devices through native Android capabilities. With the new Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HDX, Amazon has created broader management support, which includes:

  • Device administration controls for simplified enrollment, silent updates and unenrollment prevention
  • Application management to silently install, update and uninstall apps and control policies
  • Proxy configuration to route all traffic through a proxy at the device level

  • Security and restriction policies for roaming data usage, Bluetooth, location-based services and more
  • Network configuration to silently set up Wi-Fi, VPN and certificate credentials
