Airtel is the second operator after Reliance Jio to offer VoLTE services in the country. The VoLTE services will work on 4G networks, which will provide HD quality voice calls and faster call setup to customers. In case of non-availability of 4G network coverage, the VoLTE calls will automatically fall back on the 3G/2G network so that customers will stay connected. This feature gives Airtel a slight advantage over its rival Reliance Jio, as Jio does not have the 3G/2G network to fall upon.

Airtel VoLTE will allow the user to continue with their data sessions at 4G speeds even when a call is in progress.

To avail VoLTE services the customers need to have a VoLTE enabled 4G smartphone and SIM. Airtel has tested and certified popular device models for VoLTE compatibility such as iPhone SE, 6, 6plus, 6S , 6S plus, 7, 7plus; Samsung J700, A800, J2 Pro, J2 2016; Xiaomi MiMax Prime, Redmi Note 4, Mimax, Mi5; Gionee A1, Oppo F3 plus, etc. More models will keep getting added to this list.
