Airtel rolls out nationwide MNP; will port mobile numbers within 24 hours

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtel today announced that the company is fully ready to launch Mobile Number Portability throughout India.

Porting within Airtel’s network will be processed within 24 hours and subscribers. However, this will not be applicable for customers moving to J&K, Assam and North East owing to security reasons.

Users will be able to enjoy free incoming on roaming once they raise a number portability request until it is processed. Users can also avail the option of transferring their balance in prepaid or carrying forward their unbilled/billed amount in the case of postpaid while porting their number to the new city.

The process for national mobile number portability is the same as intra-city mobile number portability wherein customers have to just walk-in to an Airtel outlet closest to their new place of residence and follow the Mobile Number Porting (MNP) process as advised.
