Airtel, RJio bringing Apple Watch Series 3 cellular to India in May

Apple watch 3 does not require an iPhone to do tasks

INDIA: iPhone users in India can now use the new cellular Apple watch to stay connected seamlessly without worrying about taking their mobiles with them all the time. Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio have announced partnerships with Apple for the India launch of the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular).

Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular) will have an electronic SIM. The iPhones models compatible with the Apple Watch Series 3 are- iPhone SE, 6/6 Plus, 6s/6s Plus, 7/7 Plus, 8/8 Plus and iPhone X. The phones will need to be upgraded to iOS version 11.3 or above.

The pricing details of the Cellular version is not available yet. However, the GPS-only variants of Apple Watch Series 3 are priced between Rs 32,380-32,470.

Pre-registration will start from May 4 on Airtel and Reliance Jio's websites, Reliance Digital and Jio stores. It will be available starting May 11, 2018.

Airtel postpaid customers on any Airtel My Plan or Infinity Plan can get connected to the Apple Watch Series 3 absolutely free of cost with their existing plan.

Reliance Jio will also not charge anything extra on the prepaid or postpaid plans.

To activate cellular service on the Apple Watch Series 3 (GPS + Cellular), customers first need to update iPhone to iOS 11.3 and watchOS 4.3, then tap Settings on iPhone > General > About and follow the prompt to update to the latest carrier settings.
