Airtel has highest revenue share of 26 p.c.

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Bharti Airtlel has overtaken BSNL in the market revenue share, according to a report by telecom regulator TRAI. It has a 26 per cent market revenue, followed by state-owned BSNL which captures 18 per cent of the total telephony sector in India.

The operators' combined earned revenue was Rs 50,054 crore in the second quarter ended, September, 2011, revealed TRAI.

Of the gross revenue, Airtel earned Rs 13,239 crore while BSNL’s revenue share was Rs 9,040 closely followed by Vodafone with Rs 8,915 crore.

Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications have a market share of 10.70 per cent and 8.50 per cent respectively. Tata Teleservices earned 8.30 per cent of the total market.

The government will get close to Rs 3,500 as spectrum and other charges from the total adjusted gross revenue (AGR) from the operators’ telecom business which is Rs 33,414 crore.
