CHENNAI: Airtel, India's leading mobile service, today announced the launch
of 747 — India's first 'Tamil' Voice Portal.
IMI Mobile, the country's leading end-to-end enabler of mobile Value Added
Services, has teamed-up with well known TV and Cine Personality Yuhi Sethu, in
developing this and partnered Airtel in introducing it to the market.
This initiative comes just a few weeks after the launch of Tamil SMS.
Now, Airtel customers in Tamil Nadu have the opportunity of expressing
themselves as their mother tongue, both Voice and SMS. Both the Tamil Voice
Portal and Tamil SMS is expected to be welcomed warmly by the market, especially
with the Telecom market, especially with the telecom market expanding into
smaller towns and villages.
Launching the Voice Portal, Kollywood film star, Srikanth, who made the first
call to 747 said: “I am delighted to be associated with Airtel in this venture
and in presenting the Tamil voice portal. I have heard the entire content and
strongly believe that it will be a big hit with the people or Tamil Nadu.”
Yuhi Sethu, producer of the Tamil Voice Portal, enthused: “We conducted a
lot of research to understand the pulse of the market and then developed the
content. We are extremely happy with the way the product has shaped up and
expect it to evoke an excellent response from Airtel's Tamil Nadu customers.”
In the Ringtones category, which is the highest, used service, Airtel
customers can now download a wide range of popular and latest songs and
classics. For movie buffs, there are profiles and songs of leading stars like
Rajnikanth, Vikram, Asin, and Jyothika among others. One can download and
dedicate Ringtones to their loved ones as well.
The Greetings section allows customers to greet their loved ones and dedicate
a song along with a personalized message. Various occasions like Birthday,
Anniversary, Events and Festivals have been covered. Thirukkural provides
thought provoking words and quotes by renowned persons as well as a Word For The
Day.
Some features of 747 are interactive as well. For those who love literature
and poetry, Kavithai Arangam will enable budding poets to recite poetry and even
ask for feedback. Similarly, in the Women's Tips section, women can listen to
tips on Beauty or Cooking, and even post their own tips.
Another attraction for film fans is the Jokes and Dialogues section of
renowned comedians of Tamil films. Airtel customers can listen to and download
jokes & dialogues from categories like Vivek Jokes, Vadivelu jokes, Nagesh
Jokes etc. There is also a facility for customers to submit their own jokes.
For the businessman on the move, the portal has a Business Talk section, which
provides vital statistics on the market and information related to top ten
gainers and losers at the stock exchange.
The Youth Zone has categories like Romance Zone, Plan Your Holiday, Galatta
Zone, Counseling and What's new. There are Love tips, Tips on planning your
holiday and counseling on stress etc. The Recipe section contains both South
Indian and Continental dishes besides a category called Dish of the day. There
will be specials during festival times and customers can even post their own
exotic creations.
