Airtel launches new HSPA+ 3G Wi-Fi dongles

NEW DELHI: Airtel has launched new HSPA+ 3G Wi-Fi dongles capable of offering download speeds of up to 21.3Mbps.

The new Wi-Fi enabled dongles will be introduced in a phased manner across the country starting with Mumbai and Andhra Pradesh. Users will also be able to create a Wi-Fi hotspot anywhere, and connect up to 5 devices by plugging the dongle to any USB port including ports on laptops, phone chargers or car stereos.

The 3G-Wi-Fi dongle has been made by ZTE and supports upload speeds of up to 5.76MBps and download speeds of up to 21.3Mbps. It also includes a microSD card slot that supports cards of up to 32GB capacity. It also offers SMS capability.

Telecom operators such as Tata Docomo and MTS already offer similar Wi-Fi dongles for use on their CDMA/EVDO based networks.
