PUNE: Airtel has announced STD
and roaming benefits for its customers in Maharashtra & Goa. According to
the press release, its customers can now enjoy local call dialing in Mumbai
and free incoming calls while on roam in Mumbai.
According to the press release, this is consequent to the announcement
made by Union Minister for Communications & IT Dayanidhi Maran allowing
inter service area connectivity between Maharashtra & Goa circle and Mumbai.
Airtel's Maharashtra & Goa customers can avail local dialing facility for
calls made to mobile phones in Mumbai. However, calls made to MTNL and all
fixed lines will be treated as STD calls.
With this move both Airtel's
post paid and prepaid customers will no longer have to pay STD charges on all
calls made to mobiles between Mumbai, Maharashtra & Goa and customers can
now dial the mobile numbers directly without prefixing, '0'.
Airtel,
leveraging its all India presence, is also extending additional Mumbai Roaming
benefit to its customers. Airtel Maharashtra & Goa customers who choose
Airtel network while roaming in Mumbai can now enjoy free incoming calls.
"The inter service area
connectivity decision is an important step in further driving the penetration of
telecom in the country," opines COO
Christopher Tobit, Bharti Cellular Maharashtra & Goa Circle.
