NEW DELHI, INDIA: Upbeat on the significant 3G and BWA spectrum wins, Aircel is hopeful of being able to rollout 3G services in the next six to nine months.
"We bid with a clear intention of strengthening our ground in the southern and eastern corridors. Fortunately, we have managed to bag spectrum for a good combination of circles that are mid-ready and ready for 3G. Next six to nine months we will being rolling out services for both 3G and BWA," Gurdeep Singh, COO, Aircel told Voice&Data.
The operator says that it will aggressively roll out WiMax services and would be keen on embracing LTE once the eco-system is right in the country, which is still about two years away.
Singh, who has been heading the India operations of the company, said 3G rollout is not going to be a simple process of hopping from one tech to another, in fact there will be important O&M decisions to be made, so that there is seamless connectivity without any duplication, thus network infrastructure providers will play an important role.
