Aircel picks HP software to improve service

MUMBAI, INDIA: IT major HP recently announced that Aircel, an Indian telecom operator, has selected HP IT Operations Management solutions to enhance service delivery and enable the IT organization to support business growth.

The HP IT Operations Management solutions have been selected to address the need of ensuring efficient delivery of services as Aircel has been witnessing a rapid expansion, said a press release.

The software is expected to ensure business critical applications, including CRM, billing, databases and fault management systems, are available 24x7.

This is achieved through automated IT management and the ability to proactively monitor and address problems before they occur, the release added. Aircel has grown at 85 per cent and added11.28 million new subscribers over the past year.

Aircel has expanded its footprint from 2 circles to 13 circles, making it a national telecom operator with over 25 million customers.

“Aircel’s rapid expansion plan across geographies requires a robust IT infrastructure that can scale up quickly and enable our business goal of becoming a dominant telecom provider,” said Ravinder Jain, CIO, Aircel Ltd. India.

“The comprehensive HP Service Management solution is an ideal fit for efficient management and automation of the complex and rapidly growing IT infrastructure at Aircel,” he added.

Delivered under HP’s Business Technology Optimization (BTO) portfolio, these solutions for Aircel include HP Business Service Management (BSM), HP Business Service Automation (BSA) and HP IT Service Management (ITSM) solutions, the release said.

HP BSM will allow Aircel to monitor end user IT experience and manage service levels proactively. With HP BSA, Aircel will be able to automate tasks and sanction change management across the entire technology environment.

HP ITSM’s self-service catalog and knowledge management capabilities will provide coordinated services across the enterprise.

“High growth organizations often run the risk of service downtime due to the inability to track changes and additions to their IT systems. Using HP’s BTO solution, Aircel is able to support growth while enhancing service delivery, by automating routine IT management and gaining greater control of their IT environment,” Said Kamal Dutta, director, HP Software and Solutions, HP India.
