Under this offer, all new customers will get free 50MB per month data on FB. Post 50MB usage, the subscribers will have the option of using FB on their phones at 2 paise per 10KB. On the other hand, Aircel's existing customers will get free 50MB data for 30 days for FB access.

"Aircel has always been at the forefront of the digital world. The new product launch is a part of our endeavour to provide first-time users an access to Facebook. It is an additional cost that we pick up, though," said the company.

Quoting various industry sources, Tiwana said India was currently the second-largest market for FB, next to the US, with a user base of 93 million. FB continues to add two million users every single month, and India would become its largest market in terms of the user base in the next couple of years, he added.

The AP circle, where Aircel currently has a unique user base of two million and adding 150,000 every month, today witnesses the highest consumption of data, generating 30 per cent non-voice revenues to the company.

According to Tiwana, around 86 per cent of the overall telecom user base in the AP circle has access to Facebook, while 30 per cent of FB users exclusively access the platform from their mobile.
