Acknowledging the demand for an authentic village stay experience from travellers around the world, Airbnb is planning to list rural artisans of Andhra Pradesh to rent their living spaces to travellers.

The US-based startup has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh (AP) government under which AP’s Tourism Department will choose artisans across the state engaged in producing craft works who will then be listed on Airbnb’s global platform.

According to the Economic Times report, “The artisans will be advised by the two parties on improving their hospitable standards by way of sensitisation workshops and helping them create unique and authentic experiences for travellers.”

With this partnership, Airbnb is expected to evolve and implement innovative ideas to market and promote these unique homes and experiences to domestic and international visitors.

Amanpreet Bajaj, country manager, Airbnb India said, “Airbnb will assist the department in listing the homes and experiences of identified artisans on Airbnb’s global platform to offer them exposure to a global audience.”
