NEW YORK: Agilent Technologies Inc. on Monday said it would buy Objective Systems Integrators Inc. for about $665 million to enhance its operations-support-system software offerings for communications providers. Palo Alto, Calif.-based Agilent, an electronics testing and manufacturing company, said in a statement it would pay $17.75 per share for Folsom, Calif.-based Objective Systems in a cash tender offer.

Agilent said the deal is expected to cut its fiscal 2001 earnings per share by 2 cents but will add slightly to its revenue growth for the year. Agilent also said it expects the acquisition to generate about $618 million in goodwill, other intangibles and in-process research and development.
