The .IN domain now joins generic top level domains .info and .org as having the fastest Web site resolution times within the region.

“We strive to support all of our domains in a state of the art manner everywhere around the globe including important, emerging parts of the world like India,” said Ram Mohan, vice president of Business Operations and Chief Technology Officer of Afilias. “The amount of time for Internet users to have a .IN Web site load and appear in their browser will be shortened to less than 40 milliseconds, compared to approximately 5000 milliseconds, before the service enhancement. This upgrade will allow Afilias to improve the user experience in the entire Asia region, which should help speed worldwide adoption and use of domains we support.”

This service enhancement is a result of the installation of a new DNS node in a facility collocated with the .IN TLD nameserver and one of the core Internet root servers. The India node is part of a global DNS network provided to Afilias by its partner, UltraDNS, a leading DNS provider.
