BANGALORE, INDIA: Aegis BPO Services, part of Essar group, has acquired AOL’s call center unit in Bangalore for an undisclosed amount.
Post-acquisition Aegis will take over more than 1,200 AOL employees. AOL’s call center operations include both voice and non-voice activity, which will be served by Aegis.
According to Aegis CEO and managing director Aparup Sengupta the acquisition will strengthen its offshore customer management capabilities.
"AOL's competence allows us to get into the tech-support area covering both voice and non-voice offerings," he said, adding that Aegis would be looking out for more opportunity to grow its business abroad.
The deal will be completed by the end of April or the first week of May.
As per the agreement, Aegis will be providing customer service and technical support to AOL customers.
