NEW DELHI: Advantage Computers Ltd., an ISO 9001 Indian hardware dealing and
manufacturing company, is going to launch a low end PC with the ‘Adcom’
branding in mid-May. Right now, other Indian players in the segment are Zenith,
HCL, PCS, Wipro and Vintron.
The Adcom PCs equipped with a Pentium 4 processor will be priced in the region
of Rs 30,000. Also in the offing are 18 new product launches — the likes of
USB cards, wireless products and routers. In terms of business, it is expecting
an exponential 50 per cent growth. A rise to Rs 150 crore from the Rs 100 crore
in the current fiscal, in terms of turnover.
The company has also got 20 - 25 exclusive product outlets, which will be
through franchises, lined up in the Delhi and NCR regions, which would have on
sale every component of the PC along with other Adcom products like its branded
digital cameras, and come with a one-year replacement warranty.
About inventory piling, Advantage Computers corporate head, Harpreet Singh Brar
said, "There is a buy-back policy for the franchisees. In broad terms, if
the franchisees can achieve a combined sale of Rs 2.6 lakh per month, by the end
of 11 months the RoI (Return on Investment) can be as high as 76 per cent.
"We have been selling our products via the dealers, sub-dealers and
resellers. But we felt our equity base is now strong enough to approach the
end-user directly. At the price-point, we are definitely the best. Our main USP
(unique selling proposition) will be service," added Brar. "Infact we
are looking at players like Compaq in terms of competition", he said.
Surely all this technology comes at a price? However, as to the exact product
development cost Brar would rather not quote figures, not even ballpark ones.
Advantage Computers is one of the primary import partners of Viacyrix and
Seagate, and the company has outfits in Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow,
Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, with the manufacturing unit based in
Delhi, and a presence in Taiwan.
